Decided against using the UWE blackboard because it is slow to load and any information we want to share might not get to the other members of the group very quickly.
Google’s blogger is reliable, quick and we can use it’s API to feed it into our own portfolio sites as we publish useful information.
We have emailed each other with suggestions for the others sections. As we have carried out some preliminary research it’s been found that we find information useful to another member of our group
4. Research Questions
SEO
What are the different techniques available?
Given different scenarios or different sorts of website how do I get the most value for money out of these tools?
e.g. Large company with big budget, needing fast results
OR Small sports club with no money and more time.
Which are one off activities and which are ongoing?
How complicated are they and what do they cost?
How much will these different techniques cost compared to other marketing costs?
What are the keywords that need to be optimized for? (run a pay per click campaign first to find out)
SEO Initial Findings
All the techniques work together, to build and strengthen each other - the more you do, the better the results - these techniques are not mutually exclusive
Therefore, its all about finding the optimal combination for a clients business needs, budget and resources/involvement overtime
If a client wants a quick result - pay per click or hiring a PR agency for articles to appear on the web
If a client can afford to take a longer term view, other options open up, like trying to build their rankings through listing in directories, blogging, social media. It can take 6 months to work your way up the rankings, but is more cost effective once you are there.
Ideally a client will build SEO into their websites, but this space is developing so fast, many companies will have be more focused on getting something up and running.
In this situation it would be working with a client to rebuild their website, to also include social media feeds, so they might need a quick fix, plus a long term solution run in parallel.
